T. Boone Pickens

Financial World named him CEO of the Decade in 1989 and the Oil & Gas Investor listed him as one of the "100 Most Influential People
of the Petroleum Century." During the past few years, his uncanny on-the-mark forecasts on the price of oil have made him the focus of
major news programs and led CNBC to label him the "Oracle of Oil."
With an estimated net worth of $3 billion, Pickens chairs the private investment firm BP Capital. He founded Mesa Petroleum, one of the largest and most influential independent producers of natural gas and oil in the United States.
Dr. Scott W. Tinker
Director, Bureau of Economic Geology, The University of Texas at Austin; State Geologist of Texas and President-Elect of AAPG
Dr. Scott W. Tinker, in addition to holding the positions listed above, is the Edwin Allday Endowed Chair in the Jackson School of Geosciences. Before coming to the University of Texas in 2000, he spent 18 years working in the oil and gas industry. Tinker has been a Distinguished Lecturer for AAPG (1997), SPE (2002), AAPG Distinguished Ethics Lecturer (2005-2006) and lectures globally on the interplay between energy, environment and economy. He is President of the Association of American State Geologists (2006-2007) and sits on the National Petroleum Council, National Research Council Board of Energy and Environmental Systems, and Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission (IOGCC). Tinker received a PhD in geological sciences from the University of Colorado, an MS in geology from the University of Michigan, and a BS in geology and business administration from Trinity University.
Peter A. Dea
President & CEO, Cirque Resources
Peter A. Dea is President, CEO and Founder of Cirque Resources LP, an exploration and production company. Mr. Dea was President and Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of Western Gas Resources, Inc., Denver, Colorado from 2001 through 2006, until their merger with Anadarko Petroleum Corporation. He was Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Barrett Resources Corporation until the sale of Barrett in August 2001. He had held several other geologic and executive positions at Barrett since 1993 including Executive Vice President - Exploration. Prior to joining Barrett, Mr. Dea held various management and geologic positions for Exxon Company USA. Mr. Dea has 26 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. In addition to receiving geology degrees from the University of Montana, MS, and Western State College, BA, Mr. Dea also attended the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program.
Mr. Dea serves on the Board of Trustees for the Denver Museum of Nature and Science (Vice Chairman, 2007), Western State College of Colorado, Alliance for Choice in Education and the American Geological Institute Foundation. Mr. Dea served on the Board of the Colorado Oil & Gas Association, 1995-2006, where he served as President in 2001 and serves on the Board of Directors for the Independent Petroleum Association of Mountain States.
Joe Jaggers
President & COO, Bill Barrett Corporation
Joe Jaggers is an experienced executive with a 25-year career managing oil and gas operations. He has significant experience operating in the Rocky Mountains in both conventional and unconventional resources, such as basin-centered, tight gas and coalbed methane. He was previously Regional Vice President, Exploration and Production, for Williams Companies, where he was responsible for Rocky Mountain operations that included extensive drilling and completions, along with gas processing and gathering operations. Prior to that, Jaggers served as President and COO at Barrett Resources Corporation from 2000 until its sale to Williams in 2001. From 1981 through 2000, Jaggers worked for Amoco and BP Plc in various domestic and international operational assignments with increasing managerial responsibility. He holds a Bachelor's degree in engineering from the US Military Academy at West Point. Jaggers served as President of the Colorado Oil & Gas Association (COGA) in 2004.
Fred Julander
President & Founder, Julander Energy Company; COGA Conference Chair
Fred C. Julander has over 35 years of experience in energy and natural resources as an independent operator. He is a member of the National Petroleum Council, past President of the Colorado Oil & Gas Association, founding Chairman of COGA's Rocky Mountain Natural Gas Strategy Conference and Chairman of the Natural Gas Committee of COGA. Julander earned a BA degree from the University of New Mexico and a JD degree from the University of Iowa Law School. He is a graduate of the University of Denver's Executive MBA program.
Edward Kelly
Vice President, North American Gas & Power, Wood Mackenzie
Edward (Ed) Kelly is a recognized authority in the North American natural gas and power industries, with focused expertise in the natural gas midstream, energy markets and regulatory issues, and energy business strategies. Mr. Kelly leads major consulting engagements for Wood Mackenzie's Americas Gas and Power consulting group, contributes to the research product, and integrates insights from Wood Mackenzie's World Oil, North American Gas and Power, and Global LNG practices for the benefit of Wood Mackenzie clients. In the course of his career Ed has advised many North American and international energy companies on business strategy for the North American energy market, and on the effects of global energy market forces on the North American energy industry and marketplace. His advisory experience has also included numerous state governmental and regulatory bodies as well as utilities, producers, and gas pipeline and storage companies. In addition, he has provided expert testimony and testified before both US and Mexican congressional energy committees, as well as the National Governors' Association, on natural gas market and regulatory issues.
Prior to joining Wood Mackenzie, Ed was Director of Research, North American Natural Gas with Cambridge Energy Research Associates (CERA), where he was responsible for developing the key market outlook and leading that team's strategy engagements and key research studies. Previously, he worked for Panhandle Energy (now Spectra Energy) pipelines' market analysis and storage development areas, and for Tennessee Gas Transmission as a senior analyst in both the economic analysis and strategic planning groups. Ed holds a BA in economics from the University of Chicago and an MBA in finance from the University of Texas at Austin, and is based in Houston.
Patty Limerick
Faculty Director & Chair of the Board, Center of the American West, University of Colorado
Dr. Patty Limerick is the Faculty Director and Chair of the Board of the Center of the American West at CU, where she is also a Professor of History. Limerick has dedicated her career to bridging the gap between academics and the general public and to demonstrating the benefits of applying historical perspective to contemporary dilemmas and conflicts.
Limerick has received a number of awards and honors recognizing the impact of her scholarship and her commitment to teaching, including the MacArthur Fellowship and the Hazel Barnes Prize, CU's highest award for teaching and research. She has served as president of several professional organizations, advised documentary and film projects, and done two tours as a Pulitzer Non-Fiction jurist. She regularly engages the public on the op-ed pages of local and national newspapers, and in the summer of 2005 she served as a guest columnist for the New York Times.
David M. Posner
President, EnVent Energy, LLC
David M. Posner is President of EnVent Enegy LLC, a company he started in 2000. EnVent is involved in project development, strategic consulting, and transactional services related to gas supply, transportation and marketing. Posner has over 25 years of experience in energy marketing and analysis, project evaluation and development, and management. Most recently he was the chief marketing executive for Santa Fe Snyder Corporation, where he was responsible for worldwide natural gas and liquid petroleum marketing, gathering, processing and transportation. Posner has served as President of the Colorado Oil & Gas Association and as the chair and member of other nonprofit boards. He is a graduate of Brown University and received his Master's degree in mineral economics from the Colorado School of Mines.
Dr. Bob Raynolds
Research Associate, Department of Earth Sciences, Denver Museum of Nature & Science
Dr. Robert G. Raynolds is a research geologist working with the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. His background is in university teaching and USGS research, and he has held industry positions with Exxon Production Research and Amoco Production Company. His field research has taken him to South America, Africa, Asia and Australia. His primary interests are in understanding mountain building activity by examination of synorogenic sediments. This has led to significant efforts on ground water resource evaluation in continental strata. As Research Associate at the Denver Museum he teaches adult education classes and advises the Museum on issues relating to earth science communication to the public. With a strong interest in secondary school education, Raynolds is speaking to teachers and colleagues on global change issues. He holds an MS in applied earth sciences from Stanford and a PhD in Geology from Dartmouth College.
Heidi VanGenderen
Senior Advisor on Climate Change and Energy, Office of the Governor of Colorado
Appointed to this position in May 2007, VanGenderen is working to coordinate the development and implementation of an effective climate action plan for the state of Colorado and to concurrently organize a broad stakeholder process in support of that plan. Previously, she was Senior Associate to the Wirth Chair in Environmental and Community Development Policy at the University of Colorado where she organized, wrote and spoke about issues relating to sustainable development, specifically energy and climate policy. She was Deputy Director of the Presidential Climate Action Project, an effort to present a bold, decisive agenda on climate change, energy and national security to the country's next president. VanGenderen has worked for more than 20 years on natural resource issues and in politics, with positions ranging from service to the United Nations Environment Programme to serving as congressional staff. She is a graduate of Carleton College and a third-generation Colorado native.
